Joaquín Ureña shares his daily life in this online exhibition through the objects he represents in his work.
His studio is the setting for the compositions, distributed on his shelves and work tables, he makes a display of all those elements that, in one way or another, are present in his daily life: books, magazines, photographs, music and, as befits this 76-year-old boy, all his toys, among which have a special presence the figures of Tintin, a character who always fascinated him and whose exhibition "Hergé. The exhibition" recently visited at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
The books accompany him in his studio and finally become the protagonists of his paintings. A sort of still lifes that are a reflection of all his favorite things, hobbies, concerns and amusements.
Ureña is considered by many experts the best Spanish watercolorist, but the artist likes to avoid this term and prefers to consider himself a renovator of water techniques in our country, besides being a reference of pictorial realism with more than a hundred exhibitions and a multitude of prizes and awards in his career.
