THE BILBAO ESTUARY - ONLINE EXHIBITION
October 2nd - October 17th
The Nervión River travels 23 kilometers from the capital of Vizcaya to the Cantabrian Sea. Along its course is an extensive industrial heritage, once flourishing in activities such as shipbuilding or mining, today full of a decadent beauty that Carlos Marcote reflects in this online exhibition. Carlos Marcote (Salvatierra, Alava, 1950) began exhibiting in the 1970s, and since then he stands out as one of the best representatives of contemporary Spanish Realism of his generation. From the serene contemplation he presents us the Bilbao Estuary, witness of the development of Biscay and backbone of Bilbao, in almost dreamlike scenes where the elegant brushstroke and the incidence of light become themselves the main elements of the painting.
