Alejandro Botubol (Cádiz, 1979) drinks from the tradition of European painting, synthesizes classic themes such as landscape or still life and turns painting into a substance with its own existence, the painting itself is the main protagonist of his paintings. He discovers a new valuation of matter, where the enormous beauty of the pigment itself stands out, directing the gaze towards an authentic physical painting.

 

In this online exhibition we have an excerpt of his latest projects, on the one hand, we present four canvases that refer to the landscapes of dusk, that precise moment when the day leaves us. In his studio in Madrid there is a huge window that floods the entire space with natural light and sees how the sun disappears through it "every afternoon in the world", that sun that sneaks in is retained on the canvas, as light, but also color.

 

In her work, music and those objects, paper filters, cellophane or even stones and personal objects that coexist in her studio next to the blank canvases and that she ends up transferring to them, either as color or as a reminder of the energy of a moment, which she sometimes reflects in the halos that emerge around the frame, are fundamental.

 

The exhibition is complemented by six works on paper, a support that allows him to work in an even freer and more immediate way all this creative process that arises in the studio.
